Nathan Bedford Forrest, brilliant Confederate Cavalry commander.

Phil Sheridan, brave Federal General who features at Stones River and the scaling of Missionary Ridge.

George Thomas, the Rock of Chickamauga, considered a traitor by his native Virginia for fighting for the north.

Fletcher Pratt is a British historian, and this is an excellent history written in a very readable style.  Well worth buying
