Bridgeport

On a visit to my brother-in-law near Atlanta, in 1999, we took a trip out to Bridgeport to see them do a re-enactment of the battle of Bridgeport.  It was a good day out.

We have groups in the UK who do re-enactments of the English Civil War of the mid 17th century, but these groups are very small, nothing like the groups in the US. We were particularly interested because the guy we know, Jim, was on one of the field batteries and was able to get us ‘behind the scenes’ when the firing started.  He now has his own gun and crew that he takes to re-enactments.

I will be adding more pages and photos during January, 2005. Next to come will be a page with shots of the infantry & cavalry, then a page with some of the ‘action.’

The tented camp

People had stayed overnight and there was a large tented camp that they had set up.

Jim's battery preparing

There is a page with some shots of the artillery preparing before they started firing.
