Using Amazon tools I have built a bookshop for books and DVDs relating to Vulcans and V-bombers. Take a look. All products and transactions are via Amazon, not me, so don’t worry about security etc.

Site updated; 20th December, 2008.

More books and DVDs have been added to the bookshop.

www.vulcan-bomber.vox.com is my BLOG for Vulcan tit-bits, especially any news or aticles on the progress of 558.  Everyone is free to visit and comment.

Bombs away

Burton Crew

Site changes

I have started a page for the crash of XA891.  This Vulcan was on a test flight in July 1959 when it crashed following electrical failure. Different circumstances to the Detroit crash, and all the crew survived.

More to be added on this incident.

Does the world really need another Vulcan site?  I wanted to try to put together a site which gave some level of detail of what went into operating the aircraft, particularly from the point of view of the Navigator Radar, my old seat.  I had a short spell on 44 Sqn in 1970 then a tour each on 27 & 101 Squadrons. My last flight was in ‘74 and memory might not be as good as it should be, so I look forward to criticism and suggestions from ex Air Crew as well as the stalwarts on the ground who kept them flying.

Calling Vulcan Crew Chiefs!  Are you aware of a site that caters just for you?

Take a look at www.vulcancrewchief.org.

The aim of our register is to have an annual reunion so bring together old friends from years back. To be included on the register, telephone or e-mail Tony Regan at:- Tel 01297 20280    turbo542@aol.com

Recent publications.

Craig Bulman has been in contact with me on a number of topics, and has kindly sent me a copy of his book. Craig is an ardent fan of the Vulcan and his book is well worth reading.

This new book on the history of 44 Squadron can be bought at a discount price through the 44 Sqn Association [Henry Horscroft]; I believe they have an association site on the web.

I would like to thank Andy Leitch for the use of a number of photos from his excellent site http://www.avrovulcan.org.uk/

Please contact me with comments or suggestions; John Dillon.

My other sites

Some of the photos on the site are my own, some have come from other sites and some were in a pack I bought in 1994 from Chris Knox.  Where I have used photos other than my own I have tried to acknowledge the source.  The site is not revenue earning, but if anyone objects to my use of any picture of theirs please contact me and I will remove it.
