Using Amazon tools I have built a bookshop for books and DVDs relating to Vulcans and V-bombers. Take a look. All products and transactions are via Amazon, not me, so don’t worry about security etc.

Site changes

Latest news from 558 is that it looks as though she could be flying at Fairford!  Check tvoc.co.uk site.

I have started the pages that relate to the crash of XA908 over Detroit in October 1958; cause was complete electrical failure, all the crew died.  I hope to complete the section during the coming week.  An update has been added.

I have added Wg Cdr Hubbard’s report of the 15 May 1957 flight, releasing the first H-bomb; also the follow up note to the PM to say that it was a sub-megaton yield.

I have also added a comment from Andy Shaw regarding VASIs at Malta; ref the crash of XM654

While things progress on 558, we have still to get confirmation of her display appearances. I will be at Fairford with fingers crossed, but worried I might be disappointed.

Does the world really need another Vulcan site?  I wanted to try to put together a site which gave some level of detail of what went into operating the aircraft, particularly from the point of view of the Navigator Radar, my old seat.  I had a short spell on 44 Sqn in 1970 then a tour each on 27 & 101 Squadrons. My last flight was in ‘74 and memory might not be as good as it should be, so I look forward to criticism and suggestions from ex Air Crew as well as the stalwarts on the ground who kept them flying.

Calling Vulcan Crew Chiefs!  Are you aware of a site that caters just for you?

Take a look at www.vulcancrewchief.org.

My other sites

Some of the photos on the site are my own, some have come from other sites and some were in a pack I bought in 1994 from Chris Knox.  Where I have used photos other than my own I have tried to acknowledge the source.  The site is not revenue earning, but if anyone objects to my use of any picture of theirs please contact me and I will remove it.
